Wholesome Person Rescues Kitten Separated From Its Mother During Hurricane, Becomes Instantly Attached Despite Insisting That They Are 'Not a cat person'

Our feline-shaped hearts go out to all of those affected by the storms this season. Many people are being displaced by the hurricanes, but what a lot of people don't think about are the animals that are also being affected. One smol tortie kitten got separated from its mother, but luckily enough, one kindhearted hooman was there to help (you know we can't resist a story with a happy ending). After finding the adorably tiny fur baby, the man who described himself as 'NOT a cat person' walked around for hours with the kitten in hand to find its mother.

They may not have found the kitten's momma, but the kitten certainly found a new papa! The new cat pawrent instantly fell in love with this tiny tortie and they are growing together despite life's challenges.     This face could melt even the iciest of hearts. There is no such thing as "not a cat person" when you see a face as cute as this. Our motherly instincts are kicking in hard, and that's just from looking at this purrecious picture!

    So I am NOT a cat person, I never really have been. But Hurricane Helene blew through my town (Anderson, SC) and displaced this little kitten from its mother. I found her in my yard crying, so walked around with her meowing for hours, trying to find its mama. No luck. I put posts up on Facebook and Instagram, seeing if anyone would take her off my hands. No one I know could take in the kitten.

    If you're walking around for hours with the little kitten trying to find its mother, we have to tell you a secret: you are a cat person, you just don't know it yet. Give it time, you'll cave eventually. They always do.

    So I started feeding her and giving her attention and keeping her warm. She's a good little cat! I gotta keep her outside, but I'm doing. everything I can for her. I never thought I'd get attached to a cat, lol Just now reading that she's a Tortie. I can definitely see the sass already. Still haven't named her. Maybe Helene??

    My girl has a brown spot over her left eye too! Though it's a bit darker. Torties are great kitties, even if it's just a fur color, I feel like it comes with so much attitude.

    • BruceBoyde 2d ago • Oh yeah, that's definitely a tortie. If at all possible, make sure she gets into a vet at some point to be dewormed and whatnot; it's super common when they're young. And Helene is a great name!

If its a girl and has a litter box she will not soil your environment. You probably can find free food and litter by calling the pet store and saying u found a stray.

She could have used a few more weeks with mom but she's in the right hands and will thrive. I got my tortie at 5 weeks. She was so attached to me. Slept on my neck and rubbed my face. She just needed love. My mom reminded me you can't spoil a baby!
